Windows 10 Trouble : Error code 0x800705B4 of Windows activation issue
Error Trouble : So I picked up a used but very nice gaming PC off a friend. He was honest with me about it not being a legitimate copy of windows and it has the activation error message in the lower corner.I went ahead and set it up and immediately bought a legitimate copy digitally. I used the “Change product key” and it takes awhile and then displays the 0x800705B4 error. So to summarize – non-legitimate windows 10 pro copy machine with a freshly bought windows 10 pro license leading to the error.I found people asking for this in other threads in my searches so I ran it if it helps.

How to Fix Error code 0x800705B4 of Windows activation issue on Windows 10?
- Hi MC. I’m Greg, an Independent Advisor.
The slmgr output says it’s a Volume License Key which is only legally used by businesses and large organizations who activate by an on-site Activaition server and must check in regularly or they expire.
Only buy a license from a major retailer you know will back all sales or from Microsoft. Discount keys are always bogus because there are no deep discounts for WIndows 10 retail Product Keys.
If you did not wipe the old install off the PC first, there’s a chance it’s still picking up the old VLK which needs to be removed before putting in a new genuine Product Key. Follow these steps to do this:
1) Go offline by opening Action center at the right end of Task Bar, then clicking on Airplane mode to turn off internet.
2) Next type CMD in Start Search, right click to Run as Administrator, then right click to copy and paste this command in and press Enter: slmgr -upk
3) Restart PC and then insert the new Product Key at Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change Product Key.
If it still won’t activate please run slmgr dlv, a screenshot of the Activation Status and Edition showing at the top of the page at Settings > Update & Security > Activation?
Run the Activation Troubleshooter in the same location and report back its findings.
You can also reinstall Windows following the gold standard Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki…
If it doesn’t offer a menu for Home or Pro during install then it means it detects a factory embedded key in the BIOS, which is almost always for Home version. To can change from Home to Pro, copy and paste the Pro generic version key VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T into Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change Product Key, then after it converts to Pro, insert your Pro retail key.
If it offers a menu choose Pro and insert your Product Key during install.
For further assistance getting it activated including validating the key you bought, contact Microsoft Support at https://support.microsoft.com/help/4051701/glob… or at https://support.microsoft.com/contactus choose Get Help, then Contact Us toward the bottom, then answer Yes you can Sign In, then Select Product: Windows, then tell the Issue, it should offer Messaging and/or a Call Back on week days.
Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it’s resolved.
